What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient healing system that dates back over three thousand years ago. it is the practice of inserting very fine needles into specific points in the body for pain relief or to help the body respond to a condition or disease it is suffering from.

The incredibly fine needles stimulate the nervous system, increase circulation and relive muscle spasm. The needles block pain messages and encourage the brain and central nervous system to produce more of the body's natural painkillers. In conditions that are not painful, acupuncture can help to reset the body's normal functioning.

Acupuncture has become increasingly popular as a treatment for managing pain in cats and dogs.

Will it hurt my pet?

No, not at all! Acupuncture needles are incredibly small and stimulate nerves to block pain via the central nervous system. Most animals become sleepy and relaxed during the sessions and many go home and have a deep sleep.
